A new re-designed course well worth a try
Formerly Gassan Lake City Golf, this course was reopened in 2014 following a significant renovation and re-design by the American company Schmidt and Curley.
A complete new drainage system along with improved turf and more green-side hazards were included, giving you today a very challenging course with water hazards and a need to carry the ball a good distance to clear these hazards.
The five par-3 holes vary in length from 90 to 180 yards from the white tees and most golfers will use a different club on each. These are balanced by five par-5 holes, including a straight forward opening hole that isn't as menacing as what is to come and allows the golfer to get off to a good start.
Gassan Legacy contains plenty of water hazards and distinctive bunkering, which have been woven into the challenging and always interesting layout. Big hitters can take on a few of the par-4 holes in one, but nearer the greens pin-point accuracy is needed to avoid costly 3 putts. There are plenty of risk-reward opportunities on the par-5 holes too. The threat of water and expansive bunkering is ever present on most holes. Gassan Legacy Golf Club also rewards thoughtful play over pure power.
The unique club house makes for a nice place for after golf snacks and drinks, though its facilities are just barely adequate for western golfers. Enjoy at day golfing at Gassan Legacy and see how this Chiang Mai golf course has been transformed into one of the top conditioned courses in the area.
