The only course in Bangkok designed by Jack Nicklaus
The Legacy Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus design and is located next to Safari World in the Minburi area, a very easy 40 minute drive from the city centre of Bangkok. This Bangkok golf course is popular with local Thai golfers, members, and visitors alike. Course conditions are good, especially considering the amount of rounds played. The caddies here are well trained and rival the best of Bangkok golf courses. One thing to note is that during the rainy season, typically from July through October, the fairways can get soggy very quickly as the course is in one of the lower lying areas of Bangkok. The Legacy Golf Club incorporates all the common Jack Nicklaus design features such as large waste bunkers, wide fairways that favour a fade, and tight approaches to the greens. The largest waste bunker on the course stretches nearly 400 yards long and has an island of rough in one area.
The layout measures over 7,100 yards from the “Jack” tees, but with 5 tee boxes to choose from the golf course provides a good test for players of all abilities. Huge lakes decorate the property but shouldn’t come into play unless you hit it sideways. The greens are popular with higher handicap golfers for being in good condition and slower than the tour level layouts. A few of the holes have sand traps in the middle of the fairways and nearly all have traps defining the fairway landing areas. Most of the Legacy greens are well guarded and surrounded by deep bunkers. The par four, sixteenth plays especially difficult at 420 yards with a slight dogleg right to a large green that is all but surrounded by water and sand. The large clubhouse has several restaurants and function rooms with excellent service and the Japanese cuisine in particular is well priced and quite tasty.
