Greenwood Golf & Resort (Formally Noble Place): (A great test of Golf with Scottish characteristics)
The Greenwood Golf Resort formerly Noble Place Golf Course, designed and constructed by Peter Thomson and Dennis Wolveridge, set in the tree lined hills of Chonburi.
This 27 hole course presents a challenging layout requiring ingenuity, careful club selection and precision driving. Lots of fairway undulations gives a links feel to this hilly parkland setting. Each shot must be carefully anticipated as numerous pot bunkers await any errant shots.
This course is just 40 minutes from Pattaya. This Championship course, with its picturesque fairways, greens trees, and the lakes and ponds all around, is set amongst the tree lined hills of Chonburi. There are not many water hazards but plenty of sand traps and along with its deep fairways, heavy rough and tricky pot bunkers, a signature feature of all Thompson designed courses after his love of the old Scottish type courses, make it a challenging but enjoyable course to play. The greens are small here but are fast and true, a great course to play while in Pattaya.
The full service clubhouse overlooks courses A and B. After your round, you can enjoy have a cold beer on the large balcony and watch the sun set over the rolling Chonburi hills. If the weather is a little cloudy, you can feel like you are on a links course in Scotland or England.
In December 2006, the former Noble Place Golf Resort and Country Club was officially changed to Greenwood Golf and Resort. The owners have been upgrading the facilities and the course now sports new white sand bunkers and a revamped clubhouse with new locker rooms. Greenwood is still rough around the edges, but constantly improving quality means a good future for this well designed and favourite course among Pattaya locals.
